Mission Statement
Through innovative educational experiences that awaken the best
in the human spirit, Omega provides hope and healing to
individuals and society.
Why was your organization launched?
In 1977 Stephan Rechtschaffen, M.D., and Elizabeth Lesser
founded Omega. They saw our society as one that was ripe for
exploring holistic ways of living and deeper spiritual
reflection.
What are the organization’s goals for
this year?
1. Omega is preparing to launch the Omega Center for
Sustainable Living (OCSL). The center will be an anchor for
environmental efforts on our Rhinebeck, NY campus. The OCSL is
an innovative educational center that includes a
state-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility, laboratory, and
a classroom offering environmental curricula to students from
elementary school through university level.
2. The Women’s Institute at Omega is a dynamic new component of
the organization. Omega is continuing to develop the Women's
Institute, which is dedicated to cultivating women's wisdom and
developing a new power paradigm that honors the regenerative,
cooperative, and healing qualities of the feminine.
3. Omega is expanding the eOmega Community which offers ways to
stay connected to Omega all year long. Over 100,000 people
currently receive our monthly eOmega News with engaging
articles, horoscopes, recipes, plus free digital downloads from
our inspiring faculty. eOmega.org has been completely redesigned
with new navigation, easy 3-Step registration, and six Omega
Living categories which make it fun and easy to browse for
workshops and faculty. Improved search, social networking,
membership, and a rewards program are all in the works for the
upcoming year.
Programs/Initiatives to achieve those
goals
1. The OCSL project is estimated at $2.8. Omega is actively
engaged in the capital Campaign for Sustainable Living. To make
a donation please visit, eomega.org/omega/donate.
2. Omega offers several workshops sponsored by the Women’s
Institute. This year Omega dedicated more resources to the
development of the Women’s Institute and programs specifically
for women. This year’s Women & Courage conference will take
place September 12-14. To register call 800.944.1001.
3. Omega is building out the website and promoting Omega Living
and the eOmega community. Each month an eNewsletter is sent out
to subscribers, filled with articles by Omega faculty, giving
practical and applicable tools for living a holistic life. Omega
is also investigating social networking as a potential avenue to
enhance the eOmega community.
Annual Major Events
Being Fearless Conference
Fearlessness is not the absence of fear; rather, it is seeing
crisis as opportunity, and using the challenges in our personal
lives for our own growth and for the greater good. Omega brings
together world renowned faculty to uplift us and to give people
tools to rise above their fears and become proactive agents of
cultural change.
Service Week
Nonprofit organizations are invited to apply for a unique “In
Service” grant. Recipient organizations are awarded a free
retreat on Omega’s Rhinebeck campus. By supporting their
invaluable work, Omega is able to extend its mission beyond the
campus.
