The Normal Heart By Larry Kramer Directed by George C. Wolfe By special arrangement with Daryl Roth In the Kreeger Theater June 8-July 29, 2012
The story of a city in denial, The Normal Heart unfolds like a real-life political thrilleras a tight-knit group of friends refuses to let doctors, politicians and the press bury the truth of an unspoken epidemic behind a wall of silence. A quarter-century after it was written, this outrageous, unflinching, and totally unforgettable look at the sexual politics of New York during the AIDS crisis remains one of the theatres most powerful evenings ever. Arena Stage is proud to launch the national tour of this important and exhilarating work of theater, winner of three Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Play.

Petaluma, CA -
July 13th-15th; Fri 1:30pm-8:30pm; Sat 8am-8:30pm, Sun 8am-1:30pm
Grounding in the heart and belly, we will practice consciously inhabiting the subtle body- our innate capacity to feel and know ourselves from within. We will work with tracking the ongoing flow of present experiencing, allowing it to open up and reveal new directions. And we will unpack mental and emotional patterns that normally act as logjams blocking this presence and flow.
This retreat is largely experiential, drawing on embodiment exercises, psychospiritual inquiry, mindful speaking and listening, periods of silent practice, and meditation to cultivate embodied presence and awareness. There will also be talks and discussion.
14 CEUs are available for this retreat (MFT, LCSW, RN)
COST: $336-$590.

Transient States: An SF Camerawork Members' exhibition

San Francisco, CA -
Opening Reception: Friday, July 13, 5 - 8 pm, Exhibit July 10-August 25, 2012, Tue - Sat 12 - 6 pm, Fri 12- 7pm
Art inevitably bears the marks of the time in which it was made. In the past year we have witnessed the fall of dictatorships and governments around the world, seen the ebb and flow of wars, and experienced the collapse of weakened economies as others struggle to regain some semblance of balance. The accelerated turmoil and uncertainty in the current social and political spheres is seeping into the language of expression, just at the moment in which photography itself is undergoing dramatic evolution from analog to digital. The photographs in this juried members' exhibition bear subtle traces of the uncertain and often tumultuous climate in which they were made. Exhibition ends August 25.
COST: Admission is free to the public.
