Alice LaPlante's novel, "Turn of
Mind," is already one of the most
talked about books of 2012. This
year's winner of the California Book
Award for first fiction, the book
tells the story of a surgeon in the
throes of Alzheimer's who may or may
not be responsible for her best
friend's death. It's been called
"remarkably poignant," "pitch-
perfect," and "technically daring."
