Vallejo Symphony Spring Concert

Sponsored by Vallejo Symphony Association (VSA) - Click here to see any other events from this sponsor.

Sunday, March 25, 2012

Vallejo, CA - Sunday March 25 @3pm
Vallejo Symphony Spring Concert
Love, Death, and Dance
David Ramadanoff, conducting. Pamela Martin, guest conductor. Rossini Semiramide Overture, Faur Pavane, Brahms' Symphony No. 4 in E minor. Lander Hall, Touro University, Mare Island. Tickets $15-$35. VSO 707-643-4441, Vallejo Convention and Visitors Bureau, or Bookshop Benicia.

Our spring concert takes off into flights of fancy with three evocative works that will transport you to other worlds. Rossini's dramatic opera Semiramide is only seldom performed today, but its lovely, bittersweet overture alternates gorgeous wind and brass solos with martial passages that express the violent passions unleashed in its plot. Faur's poignant Pavane evokes a lovely and mysterious vision of dances from other times. Brahms's stormy Symphony No. 4 is an emotional journey in itself, from passionate yearning to fulfillment.

Ah, Wilderness! at Arena Stage

Sponsored by Arena Stage - Click here to see any other events from this sponsor.

From: Friday, March 09, 2012
To: Sunday, April 08, 2012

Washington, DC - Ah, Wilderness!
Written by Eugene ONeill
Directed by Kyle Donnelly
In the Fichandler Stage
March 9-April 8, 2012
Part of the Eugene ONeill Festival

Return to an idyllic age of Americana in Eugene ONeills unabashedly romantic and sweetly funny Ah, Wilderness! As the Connecticut-based Miller clan plans their traditional Fourth of July festivities, their dreamy-eyed middle child Richard is wrestling with cultural conventions, political uncertainty, the power of literature and the exquisite pain of love. The memories of family life were never so delicately portrayed as in ONeills only comedy, his coming-of-age love letter to a simpler time that finds the master playwright at his most wistful and serene. (New York Times).

Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
